TRAILS stands for Tasi Ropati Action for Impact Legacy in the South Pacific.
TRAILS was founded by siblings and their partners, inspired by the journey of our parents who left Samoa, travelled to New Zealand, and eventually settled in Australia. They arrived as sojourners, learning a new language, adapting to a new culture and sacrificing familiarity and comfort so their children could have opportunities they never had.
Their humility, resilience and faith shaped our family. We are beneficiaries of their courage.
As children of diaspora, we carry a responsibility. We have experienced access to education, sport, employment and community support that many in our home villages and Pacific communities do not always receive. TRAILS was created to ensure others are able to access similar opportunities, guidance and support.
Our work is not only about programs. It is about honouring those who came before us and extending the same care forward.
TRAILS was started by a family.
It is led brothers and sisters, together with their partners, who grew up in and around Pacific community life. The organisation was not created as a project, but as a natural extension of the relationships, responsibilities, and mentoring that were already happening within family and community.
